Rejuvenation of the upper third of the face, most notably the brows, crow's feet and forehead wrinkles, has been traditionally done through a long incision placed in the hairline. This has kept many men with receding hair lines from seeking this procedure and often hair loss or unsightly scars have disappointed women. A revolutionary technique, designed to smooth the forehead lines and crows, raise the eyebrows and upper lids to rejuvenate the upper third of the face, is now available. By utilizing much smaller incisions hidden in the hairline or facial wrinkles, a digital microchip camera and video monitors coupled with a small endoscope are used to release and lift the brows. This advanced technology alleviates the concern of hair loss or unsightly scars as seen with traditional forehead lifts, without the "surprised" look often seen in overcorrected cases. No tissue or hair is excised. When combined with transconjunctival removal of lower eyelid fat pads (lower blepharoplasty) and laser resurfacing, dramatic rejuvenation of the eyes and upper face can be accomplished with totally hidden scars. One prominent Hollywood director is quoted as saying, "the eyebrows convey over thirty-two emotions." This procedure is accomplished under local and IV sedation and it takes approximately two to three hours. A protective dressing is removed in twenty-four hours and makeup can be applied in a few days. The results, in most cases, are immediately visible. |
